I have been in contact with KIA Corporate on this. It is a problem with the 2007 & 2008 Sorentos among other models. They say it is the "digital" radio that it reduces the sound so you dont hear the static.... and they also say and QUOTE "THAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T NOTICE IT". I tried to put a Sony stereo in my '08 Sorento yesterday. It powered up, the SWI-PS worked from the steering wheel, but there was no sound. I talked to crutchfield tech support. they had me hooking up two of the other amp and ant wires. Still no sound. As I had spliced the new set in, I was able to re-connect the old set. No Sound. Hey everyone. I bought a 2007 Kia Sorento at the end of September 2007. Since the day that I picked it up the radio has driven me NUTS. The volume goes up and down all by itself constantly. Hello, thought I'd run this by everybody for some thoughts... I'm looking at a 2007 Kia Sorento EX 4X4 with Luxury option package. It is a demo with 5200 miles. They want to sell it for $28k, minus $3k rebate. I thought it was pretty laughable. I think I could probably get a 2008 for this. I have seen consumer reports showing many 2003 Sorentos had this very problem. Also, I have seen a handfull of complaints from 2004 owners. And all of these cars had the engine die and all needed new engines.
