GM has done this traditionally on new model year cars delivered to dealers. After a few weeks or up to a month or so, the base price creeps up sometimes. I think this is a marketing thing so that when rebates kick in later in the year, GM is really not taking as big of a hit on prices as it would seem. We just purchased an '09 Saturn Aura XR-4 and found out some interesting details in the process. We got the XR-4 with the 6 speed automatic transmission which is standard for the best fuel economy. From what I have read on the internet, the new rating for the 6 speed automatic 4 cylinder engine will be 22/33. Currently it's 22/30. I really believe 6 speed automatics should be standard on midsize sedans. The gas mileage is better and overall drive is better. Saturn is moving in the right direction by making 6 speed automatic standard in the Saturn Aura. Read More...

I recently purchased a honda accord, but I really wanted the chevy malibu. I have never bought a domestic car, but the Malibu is flat out amazing. If Saturn made the Aura available with a I4 (which is going to be avaialble this year) with a stick shift. I'd take it over the Altima and everything else in this class except for maybe the new Accord. The only reason why my wife didn't buy the Aura was because of a lack of a manual. The Altima was her second choice, but won out due to the 6-speed with the 2.5. Read More...

I'm with you on that one...I don't see 'Yota refreshing the Camry after two model years. 2010 will bring the refreshed Camry, though toyota has been known to do partial changes. Like engine changes before a refresh, then refreshing the body itself. 2010 brings a Refreshed Altima...and from what I've been seeing a new galant should be out by 2009. If its anything ... I want PROOF that it will hold up for a good 7-8 years. And obviously we won't get that proof for a while. So I'd really hesitate to buy it. There's no way any mid-size car manufacturer can meet that standard, since the 2007 or 2008 or 2009 model is going to be considerably different than a 2000, 2001 or 2002 model.
